Our History
In 1938 David
Oswald Jones and his wife Megan started in business with
the purchase of a lorry for £18. With dedication, enthusiasm and sheer
hard work the business developed to become a coal merchant
and haulage contractor trading as D.O. Jones & Sons
incorporating a small car workshop known as Old Depot
Garage.
Post the 1939-45 war D.O. started to sell used
cars, these being in the main sourced from London via
weekly visits there. Not content with his achievements,
D.O., Megan and eldest son Irwel, formed in 1959 what
is still known as Valley Services, a complete motor experience
selling and repairing new and used cars as a Morris
MG dealer, complemented by a 7 day week Service Station.
In
1960 younger son Byron was now part of the team and in
the ensuing years saw the disposal of D.O. Jones & Sons
as haulage and coal merchants. Emphasis was
now placed on motoring needs and the Shell branded
Service Station. This encompassed attention on personal
service and high achievable standards. 1990 saw third
generation, D.O.'s grandson Sion join the business.
With the arrival of the 21st Century, Valley Services,
the accent on personal service still paramount, has a Shell branded
covered forecourt giving 7 day a week service. Two refurbished
showrooms to current corporate standards display Skoda cars, this being supported
with the only covered used car display of late quality
vehicles in the area. Service and Parts are provided with
factory trained personnel with all the latest technical
equipment at hand, coupled with daily parts deliveries
from Skoda. |
